SNACK VS. CHEF
NETFLIX, 2022 – GRAPHIC PROPS DESIGN & FABRICATION
In 2021, I worked on the Netflix show “Snack vs. Chef” as a graphic designer, where I designed (and often fabricated) the packaging featured on the show. Most packaging was designed in real time during the competition, and often filmed the same day it was created.
Production Design: J.P. Connelly
Art Direction: Matthew Kornegay
Graphic Artists: Haley Koch, Mattie Lippe, Marina Mundo
PROCESS
This fast-paced competition show was a crash course in quick design turnarounds, as many of the packaging designs being created were filmed within 24 hours of being requested. With nothing but a “brand name” and list of ingredients from each contestant, the packaging designs all needed to be distinct from one another, while still being completed within the timeframe of our shoot schedule.
PACKAGING DESIGN GALLERY
I designed the wrappers, boxes, and bags for the snacks that our contestants would be making. Because we had to prepare for (almost) every possible outcome, some of these designs did not make the final cut due to the nature of the competition.
VENDING MACHINE FACADES
For the wall of lit vending machines surrounding our corner store, I digitally rendered a series of eight full-scale vending machines, which were printed and installed on set.
